Arts Council of Ireland Awards for Film Artists – Call for applications

The Arts Council invites applications from film artists for the newly announced Agility Award and the upcoming Film Project Award, Open Call and Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme

Agility Award
In the context of the ongoing uncertainty created by COVID-19, and the Arts Council’s commitment to raising standards of excellence in the making of art, the purpose of the Agility Award is to support professional artists and arts workers to:
Develop their practice, and/or
Develop their work, and/or
Develop their skills, and/or
Create new work, and/or
Present new work.

This award is open to freelance artists and arts workers at any stage in their career.
The maximum awarded to individual artists will be €5,000

Film Project Award

The purpose of the Film Project Award is to support specific projects in the field of Film commencing on or after 1 July 2021; to support the making of creatively ambitious and artistically authored film work of an experimental nature that would be unlikely to receive support from other funding sources. The work should be filmic and be made with a view to engaging and challenging audiences. It should be made for public exhibition in cinema settings in the first instance, though secondary exhibition in other contexts and on digital platforms may follow.

The maximum awarded to individual artists will be €70,000

Open Call
A programme for artists and arts organisations to develop and shift their practice and profile work for the public on a national scale, creating high-profile arts central to people’s lives. Within the context of this award, collaboration refers to working with other artists or organisations, or may refer to collaboration with communities of place or interest. Projects of ‘scale and ambition’ is understood to mean work that is impossible to achieve in your current practice, significant in vision, irrespective of physical, temporal or quantitative scale. Projects proposed in response to the Open Call may be in any artform or be cross-disciplinary or interdisciplinary.

The maximum awarded to individual artists or organisations will be €400,000

Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme

This scheme is designed to support the touring and dissemination of work starting between January 2022 and June 2022. The Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme is open to applications from organisations and individuals. Applications which demonstrate collaboration / partnership between networks, consortia or other collective groupings of presenters are encouraged, particularly where these indicate a high degree of engagement with audiences and collaboration with the producing entity or artists. Applications will also be expected to take account of possible restrictions and plan accordingly.

The maximum awarded to individual artists or organisations is Unlimited
