Upcoming funding opportunities – Authored Works and Agility Awards

Applications have now opened up for the following two Arts Council funding opportunities through film: Authored Works and Agility Award.

Authored works is a relatively recent addition to Arts Council’s funding strategies designed to suit highly ambitious artist led projects with a funding cap of €200,000. More info below.

The Agility Award was designed to support any stage artists and has a cap of €5000. There is also a webinar information session for artists applying to the Agility Award on Tuesday 31st August, more info below.

Authored Works Award – deadline 17:30 Thursday 30 September 2021

The purpose of Authored Works is to provide film artists with the creative and editorial freedom to make a feature-length authored cultural film work from a strong artistic point of view. Films must be artist-led.  One film will be supported in 2021. A total fund of up to €200,000 will be made available to the successful applicant (to include a production budget of €185,000 and further exhibition support of €15,000). Only films that can be made within this budget will be considered. The film must be completed to premiere at the Irish Film Institute, our exhibition partner, at an agreed date in 2023.

Applications for Authored Works Award must be made directly to the Arts Council before 17:30 on Thursday, 30 September 2021. The window for making applications opens on 31 August 2021. Guidelines and details of the application process are published on our website on the available funding section.

Agility Award


This award aims to support individual professional freelance artists and arts workers at any stage in their careers to do one or more of the following:

  • Develop their practice
  • Develop their work
  • Develop their skills
  • Create new work
  • Present new work

This award was developed to support people following the Covid-19 crisis and is open to all.

The Arts Council particularly welcome new applicants and encourage applications from all areas of the community regardless of your gender, sexual orientation, civil or family status, religion, age, disability, race or membership of the Traveller Community, or socio-economic background.

The maximum awarded to individual artists will be €5,000
